Henry County Illinois is located in West-Central Illinois just south of Interstate 80 and Interstate 74 bisects the county from North to South. It was formed from parts of Fulton County in 1825 with the present boundries finalized in 1837. It was named after Patrick Henry, the statesman and orator of "Give me Liberty or give me Death" fame.

The county is an area of rich farmland and small towns. There is very little industry in the area, the main economics center around farming. The main crops are Corn and Soybeans. The area is also known as the Hog Capitol of the World as so many of the farmers raise the corn and soybeans tofeed to the hogs - thus increasing their value many times over.

The largest town in the County is Kewanee with a population of 12,481. Other towns in the county include Geneseo, Bishop Hill, Alpha, Andover, Cambridge (the County Seat), Orion, and Woodhull.

The area's history is varied and can be colorful. I've decided to try to give you a taste of the Mid-West through it's history and legends. I hope you enjoy the storys as I find time to post them.
